Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a donut pan with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, melted butter, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
- To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.
- Dip the top of each donut in the glaze and let dry on a wire rack.
