Chocolate Orange Donuts

These Baked Chocolate Doughnuts are made with orange and coconut making them rich and full of flavour. Get the recipe below.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a donut pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, melted butter, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
  7. To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.
  8. Dip the top of each donut in the glaze and let dry on a wire rack.
