Vegan Oreo Cookies

Posted on August 10, 2023August 10, 2023 By Admin No Comments on Vegan Oreo Cookies

These homemade oreo cookies taste quite similar to the real chocolate creme-filled sandwich cookies and are easy to make. Perfect for dipping in a glass of oat milk or almond milk, or for use in desserts such as this vegan oreo cheesecake.

Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cookies

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegan butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed mixed with 3 tablespoons water (flax egg)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For the Vegan Oreo Filling

  • 1/2 cup vegan butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened vegan butter and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the flaxseed mixture (flax egg) and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but workable.
  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  7. Use a round cookie cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out small cookie circles. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each cookie.
  8. Bake the chocolate cookies in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until they are firm to the touch.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. While the cookies are cooling, prepare the vegan Oreo filling. In a bowl, beat the softened vegan butter until creamy.
  11. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the butter, and continue beating until the filling is smooth and fluffy.
  12. Once the cookies have cooled, spread a generous amount of the vegan Oreo filling on the flat side of one cookie.
  13. Sandwich another cookie on top, pressing gently to create the Homemade Oreo cookie.
  14. Repeat the process with the remaining cookies and filling.
  15. Serve the Vegan Homemade Oreo Cookies and enjoy!
