Vegan hot dog, simple, easy, and absolutely delicious. It is a super flavorful recipe made in 30 minutes and perfect for a barbecue!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup vital wheat gluten
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp liquid smoke
- 8 vegan hot dog buns
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and black pepper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable broth, tomato paste, soy sauce, olive oil, and liquid smoke.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Knead the dough for a few minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into eight equal portions and roll each portion into a log shape.
- Wrap each log in foil, twisting the ends to seal.
- Steam the wrapped hot dogs for 30 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Remove the hot dogs from the foil and grill for a few minutes on each side, until charred and heated through.
- Serve the hot dogs in buns with your favorite toppings.
