Vegan Apple Fritters

What makes these no yeast vegan apple fritters so amazing is perfectly fried dough that is packed inside with wonderful, juicy apples and drizzled with a simple glaze. Nothing better screams fall to us than a warm, glazed Vegan Apple Fritter.

Ingredients

For the Apple Fritters

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any non-dairy milk)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium-sized apples)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk (or any non-dairy milk)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the almond milk, applesauce, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  3. Fold in the diced apples until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  5. Using a spoon or cookie scoop, carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  6. Remove the fritters from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, almond milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  8. Dip each fritter into the glaze, coating both sides, and place them on a wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
  9. Serve the apple fritters warm.
