Fire Tempeh Nuggets

Trying to find a new snack? Perhaps you’ve just discovered what you were looking for. These golden tempeh nuggets are the tastiest, crunchiest morsels that you can eat alone or as a tasty complement to your favourite dish for an extra dash of “yum.”

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. tempeh, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and almond milk until smooth.
  4. In a third bowl, add the panko bread crumbs.
  5. Dip each piece of tempeh first into the flour mixture, then into the almond milk mixture, and finally into the panko bread crumbs. Make sure each piece is coated well.
  6. Place the coated tempeh nuggets on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Spray the tops of the nuggets with cooking spray.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
