Vegan Seitan Roast

This Vegan Yack Attack On the Go! Slow Cooker Seitan Roast! is quite simple and ideal for a little holiday supper. You’ll be left asking why you haven’t made it at home before because it is flavorful and filling!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups vital wheat gluten
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 1/4 cups vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, dried thyme, dried rosemary, and black pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable broth, soy sauce, tomato paste, and olive oil.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well to form a dough.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes elastic.
  5. Shape the dough into a loaf and wrap it tightly in aluminum foil, twisting the ends.
  6. Place the wrapped seitan roast in the slow cooker.
  7. Add enough water to the slow cooker to cover the roast partially.
  8. Cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or until the roast is firm and cooked through.
