We frequently make this 15-minute broccoli recipe with garlic, lemon zest, and chili flakes. It never gets old to us!
Ingredients
- 4-6 cups broccoli florets (or broccolini) 8 ounces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (or butter or ghee)
- 4–10 garlic cloves, rough chopped
- Generous pinch chili flakes (aleppo or urfa biber are nice here)
- Zest of one lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: truffle oil
Instructions
- Cut broccoli florets into small florets, roughly the same size to ensure even doneness.
- Put a steamer basket over 3/4 inch of water in a medium pot. (Water shouldn’t reach the basket’s bottom.) Cover the basket with a lid after adding the broccoli. Water is brought to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes or until fork-tender. Use a fork to test.
- Oil should be heated in a big skillet while the broccoli is steaming. Add chile flakes after cooking the garlic over medium heat until fragrant. Add lemon zest once the garlic has turned golden, stir, and then turn off the heat.
- Add the steamed broccoli to the skillet with tongs, sprinkle it liberally with salt and pepper, and give it a gentle stir.
- Taste, adjust salt, pepper, chili flakes. Add a little more olive oil if you like, so broccoli is nicely coated.
Notes
Feel free to add a drizzle of truffle oil, to elevate this!
