Ingredients
- 1 large head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any other plant-based milk)
- 1 cup whole wheat flour (or chickpea flour for a gluten-free option)
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust according to your spice preference)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking spray or a few tablespoons of vegetable oil
For the Sauce
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot or your favorite brand)
- 2 tablespoons vegan butter or coconut oil, melted
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray/oil.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the almond milk, whole wheat flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper until you have a smooth batter.
- Toss the cauliflower florets into the batter, ensuring they are well coated.
- Place the cauliflower florets on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cauliflower is crispy and golden brown, flipping them halfway through to cook evenly.
- While the cauliflower is baking, prepare the sauce by combining the hot sauce, melted vegan butter or coconut oil, and maple syrup/agave nectar in a bowl. Mix well.
- Once the cauliflower is done baking, remove it from the oven and toss the crispy florets in the prepared sauce until evenly coated.
- Return the sauced cauliflower to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5 minutes to set the sauce.
